Bývalá výrobna acetylenového svítiplynu je nyní upravená na rekreační objekt. Nachází se v hraniční obci Hřensko na okraji národního parku České Švýcarsko. Skály v bezprostřední blízkosti, malé jezero na hranici pozemku a potok propůjčují tomuto domu mimořádné kouzlo.
Přestože je téměř v centru Hřenska, očím neznalého návštěvníka by snadno unikla, protože je skryta v úzkém skalnatém kaňonu. Na tomto romantickém místě stojí stejně tak romantická budova bývalé plynárny, která připomíná tajemný zakletý zámeček. Tajemnost místa podtrhuje navíc historka o duchovi. Krátce po otevřeni plynárny se otrávil při výrobě svítiplynu jeden z německých dělníků, protože byly porušeny bezpečnostní předpisy. Aby za to nadřízeni nebyli stíháni, zavolali svého známého doktora, který dělníka ohledal. Ten lživé zapsal do protokolu, že smrt nastala selháním organismu a celkové stářím dělníka. Dělníka pochovali na hřbitově asi dvě sté metrů nad plynárnou. Jeho duši se tato lež nelíbí, a proto se do plynárny každý měsíc při úplňku vrací a straší. K působivé atmosféře Staré Plynárny přispívá i skalní masiv s vodopádem a potok, který tudy protéká. Překrásný kamenný dům zde byl postaven v roce 1905 německými dělníky ve slohu typickém pro příhraniční oblasti s převážné německým osídlením. Tenkrát plynárna zásobovala acetylenovým svítiplynem dvanáct nedalekých obytných domů. Umístění v rokli bylo z bezpečnostních důvodů. Tady by v případě výbuchu neohrozila obydlené domy v obci. Ke svému původnímu účelu sloužila plynárna asi dvacet let. Budova byla v roce 2003 zachráněna před destrukcí a citlivé rekonstruovaná kamenná stavba se při zachování své jedinečné podoby proměnila v penzion s restaurací. V roce 2020 přibyla v zadní části budovy nenápadná přístavba. Její steampunkový styl tvoří netradiční prostředí restaurace. Odkazuje na počátky století páry, takže základem výzdoby jsou ozubená kola, nýty a také obrovské hodiny. Jejich ozubená kola jsou vidět a každou hodinu se čtyřicet sekund otáčí v doprovodu zvuku mechaniky. Stezkou kolem Staré Plynárny proudí každý rok statisíce turistů směřujících do Českého i Saského Švýcarska. Mezi nejvyhledávanější cíle v těsné blízkosti penzionu patří Pravčická brána, soutěsky řeky Kamenice, skalní most Bastei nebo vyhlídka Belvedér. Naučné stezky, procházky přírodou, vyhlídkové pramice – v okolí Staré Plynárny si na své přijdou všichni.
Formerly a gasworks producing acetylene gas, this building has now been turned into a recreational attraction. It is situated in the border village of Hřensko on the outskirts of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park. Rocks in the immediate vicinity, a small lake on the edge of the property and a stream give the building on extraordinary charm.
Although it is almost in the centre of Hřensko, it can easily escape the untrained eye due to its concealed location in a narrow rock canyon. in this romantic place stands the equally romantic former gasworks building, which looks like o mysterious and enchanted château. The mystery of the place is further enhanced by a story about a ghost. Shortly after gasworks opened, a German worker died of gas poisoning while producing gas because of a breach of safety regulations. To avoid prosecution, the superior officers called a doctor who they were acquainted with to examine the labourer. Instead of poisoning, the doctor falsely recorded the cause of death as multiple organ failure and old age. The labourer was buried in a cemetery about 200 metres above the gasworks. The labourer's soul was angered by the lie, and so on every full moon he would come back to haunt the gasworks. A rock massif with a waterfall and a stream which flows by also add to the impressive atmosphere of Stará Plynárna. The magnificent stone building was built in 1905 by German workers in a style which was typical of border areas with predominantly German settlement. At that time, the gasworks supplied acetylene gas to twenty nearby residential buildings. It was built in a gorge for safety reasons. If an explosion occurred, it would not endanger the houses in the village. The gasworks served its original purpose for about twenty years. In 2003, it was saved from demolition, and the carefully restored stone building was transformed into a guest house and restaurant while preserving its extraordinary appearance. In 2020, an inconspicuous extension was added to the rear of the building. The “steampunk” style gives the restaurant an unconventional appearance. With an early steam age theme, the foundations of its decorations consist in gears, rivets and an enormous clock. The clock’s gears are also visible and rotate every hour for forty seconds to the sound of the mechanism. Every year, hundreds of thousands of tourists heading for Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland pass by Stará Plynárna. The most popular destinations near the pension include the Pravčice Gate, the gorges of the Kamenice River, the Bastei rock bridge, and the Belvedér lookout point. Nature trails, walks in the countryside and sightseeing boots - the surroundings of Stará Plynárna offer something for everyone.
Die ehemalige Produktionsstätte für Acetylen-Leuchtgas dient heute als Pension und Restaurant. Das Alte Gaswerk liegt in der Gemeinde Hřensko an der Grenze des Nationalparks Böhmische Schweiz. Die Lage zwischen Felsen, der kleine See an der Grundstücksgrenze und der Bach verleihen diesem Ort ganz besonderen Charme.
Trotz der Lage fast im Zentrum von Hřensko bleibt es den Augen unwissender Besucher verborgen, da es in einer schmalen Schlucht versteckt ist. An diesem romantischen Ort steht das genauso romantische Gebäude des ehemaligen Gaswerks, das an ein verwunschenes kleines Schloss erinnert. Das geheimnisvolle Flair dieses Ortes untermalt die Geschichte von einem Geist, der hier angeblich sein Unwesen treibt. Kurz nach der Eröffnung wurde bei der Acetylen-Herstellung ein deutscher Arbeiter vergiftet, nachdem die Sicherheitsvorschriften verletzt worden waren. Um keine Probleme mit den Behörden zu bekommen, riefen die Werksleiter einen befreundeten Arzt, der den Arbeiter untersuchen sollte. Dieser führte im Totenschein nicht Vergiftung als Todesursache an, sondern Organversagen und das hohe Alter des Arbeiters. Der Arbeiter wurde auf dem rund zweihundert Meter entfernten, oberhalb des Gaswerks gelegenen Friedhof beigesetzt. Das gefällt der Seele des Arbeiters natürlich nicht, weshalb sie bei Vollmond angeblich in das Gebäude zurückkehrt und hier spukt. Zum einzigartigen Flair des Alten Gaswerks tragen auch das Felsmassiv mit Wasserfall und der hiesige Bach bei. Das wunderschöne Steinhaus wurde 1905 von deutschen Arbeitern in einem Stil erbaut, der für diese Grenzregion mit überwiegend deutschsprachiger Bevölkerung charakteristisch war. Damals versorgte das Gaswerk zwölf Haushalte in der nahen Umgebung mit Acetylen-Leuchtgas. Die Entscheidung, es in einer Schlucht zu errichten, fiel aus Sicherheitsgründen. Im Falle einer Explosion sollten die Häuser in der nahe gelegenen Gemeinde verschont bleiben. Seinem Zweck diente das Gaswerk nur rund zwanzig Jahre. Das Gebäude wurde im fahr 2003 vor dem Abriss gerettet und mit viel Aufwand saniert. Der Steinbau durfte seinen einzigartigen Charakter bewahren und dient heute als Pension und Restaurant. Das Restaurant besticht durch sein Ambiente im Steampunk-Stil. Dieser verweist auf den Beginn des Dampfzeitalters und umfasst Dekorationen in Form von Zahnrädern, Nieten und einer riesigen Uhr mit sichtbaren Zahnrädern, die sich jede volle Stunde vierzig Sekunden lang drehen, begleitet vom Geräusch des Uhrwerks. Auf dem Weg vorbei am Alten Gaswerk wandern jährlich tausende Touristen in die Böhmische und Sächsische Schweiz. Zu den meistbesuchten Zielen in der Nähe der Pension gehören das Prebischtor, die Klammen des Kamenice-Flusses, die Felsenbrücke Bastei und der Aussichtspunkt Belvedere. Lehrpfade, Wanderwege, Erlebnis-Bootsfahrten - in der Umgebung des Alten Gaswerks kommen alle Besucher auf ihre Kosten.

Keš je pohodlně přístupná přímo z cesty, na kterou je možné se dostat buď shora z modré značky (Trailhead T1) nebo zdola po schodech (Trailhead T0). Pro odlovení není třeba šplhat po skalách, ani se přibližovat ke skalním okrajům. Jelikož GPS signál není mezi skalami ideální, orientujte se raději podle OSM mapy.
The cache is conveniently accessible directly from a path, which can be reached either from above from the blue trail (Trailhead T1) or from below by stairs (Trailhead T0). There is no need to climb rocks or approach rock edges. Since the GPS signal is not ideal between the rocks, we kindly recommend using the OSM map to orientate yourself.
Der Cache ist bequem direkt vom Weg aus erreichbar, der entweder von oben über das blaue Schild (Trailhead T1) oder von unten über eine Treppe zu erreichen ist (Trailhead T0). Es ist nicht nötig, auf Felsen zu klettern oder sich Felskanten zu nähern, um zu fangen. Da das GPS-Signal zwischen den Felsen nicht optimal ist, empfehlen wir, sich an der OSM-Karte zu orientieren.
