Geocache Description:

Kirby Cross Railway Station is on the Walton branch of the Sunshine Coast Line, and was opened in January 1866 as the railway was built eastwards from Colchester by theTendring Hundred Railway.  The station has two platforms, with east and west bound lines, although the line is single track either side of the station.  The original station building was demolished about 5 years ago, although not before its owners at the time Alebllio Greater Anglia offered it to Tendring District Council for £1, should the council wish to renovate it.
