TheGypsies_PNW would like to invite you all to join Us September 3rd from 12:00 to 1:30pm for an opportunity to learn more about Letterboxing. We will be providing details about the long history of this hobby as well as unique terminology, tools of the trade, and the a variety of different carving materials used to Letterbox. Although Letterboxing and Geocaching are different in many ways, for us they go hand in hand. We were geocaching when we accidentally discovered a Letterbox and couldn't get enough of the idea. So this event is our way of saying Thank You to Geocaching.
The event location has plenty of parking at GZ which is free. The location has bathrooms and a watering fountain for your use. Dogs are allowed although not inside the Nature Preserve, which has a trailhead to the North along the bike path near the entrance to the park.
The event will start at 12:00 Noon with the first 15 mins or so set aside for introductions followed by a brief presentation on the history of Letterboxing.
Around 12:30 we will discuss the many techniques that are used to carve the stamps and details given to others in order to make the find.
Approximately 12:45-1:15pm we will craft some stamps.
At 1:15pm we will wrap up the event with a raffle prize drawing and getting to know each other better.
Finally In addition to all the previously mentioned things we will be placing some new hides of various types for you to enjoy 😁 The craft supplies we will provide you while here, although it may be necessary to share gouging tools with others. If you already Letterbox please feel free to bring your stamps and logbook for everyone to enjoy. Everyone is welcome to come if you intend to bring guests please write your group size in the "I Will Attend" section. We can't wait to see you there!
