My brothers and I used to ride our bikes here to fish off the old bridge 30 years ago. You can still see remnants of the bridge; the past few floods have widened and changed the river path, also eroding the limestone foundation of the bridge.
I've noticed a goose nest on the west side of the river on the small sandbar. My relatives who live close by say the geese have nested there for the past couple of years, lay eggs, then abandon the nest! Hopefully, the cycle will end and they will find a different nesting spot next spring.
