Cache to Eagle series highlights Eagle Projects that have improved our community.
Cache to Eagle is a program started by the Boy Scouts to increase interest in Geocaching. The goal is to place Cache to Eagle caches in every Zone, of every Council where Boy Scouts is in place.
The caches in this series are to recognize projects boys have completed in the Coastal Sage Zone of the San Diego-Imperial Council. From the Pacific Ocean on the West to Hwy 15 on the East, North along the coast to Hwy 56 and South to Coronado Island, the Coastal Sage Zone serves nearly 50 units in the BSA San Diego-Imperial Council. Our units offer fun scouting adventures for boys and girls ages 5-18.Our Council covers all of San Diego and Imperial Counties, all the way from the Pacific Coast to the Arizona border.
Eagle is the highest rank a Boy Scout can attain. It encompasses many years of learning about the outdoors, many nights camping, and teaches abilities to lead others. Built into the program is community service, which a Scout must plan, coordinate, execute, and report for their Eagle project.
This cache highlights a project completed by a Life Scout in Troop 15 from Downtown San Diego. His project was to build owl and bat boxes for Chollas Lake. With the help of his troop, He constructed the boxes using the plans found on the internet, and with the help of the Audubon Society, installed the boxes in various locations around the lake property. He spent 43 hours planning, coordinating, fund raising, and managing scouts and volunteers to complete the task.
