Rubbish by the Rapids

The area
Situated on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people, Mullum Mullum Creek and its surrounding parklands provide significant habitat for native flora and fauna in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Of particular significance is the powerful owl, listed as vulnerable in Victoria, which nests in large manna gums near the creek. However, Mullum Mullum Creek is one of the most polluted waterways in Manningham. Most of this pollution enters the creek via the local stormwater system, bringing litter and untreated greywater into the creek ecosystem.
