牯嶺街小劇場是臺灣「前衛劇場美學」與「歷史文化資產」共存的一個指標性所在地。原建於1906年的日本官舍，二戰後改建為警察局。1995年，中正二分局遷離，經藝文界人士奔走爭取，規劃成為展演空間。1998年以中正二分局小劇場為名開始營運，2001年更名為牯嶺街小劇場。內部空間包括實驗劇場、藝文空間、排練場等，不僅是官方推動閒置空間再利用的先驅案例，也是臺灣第一個以前衛劇場營運為名義、由政府委託民間藝文團體經營的場地。牯嶺街小劇場於2014取得歷史建築之文資身分，2018-2020年進行歷史建築修復工程。，是臺北重要的藝文場地之一。(資料來自牯嶺街小劇場)
牯嶺街小劇場距離捷運中正紀念堂站五分鐘步行距離，交通便利，寶盒位於劇場旁一處綠地，平日寧靜悠閒，尋寶時避開演出人潮即可。
The Guling Street Avant-Garde Theatre is a cutting edge location where Taiwan's "avant-garde theater " and "historical and cultural asset" coexist. Originally built in 1906 as a Japanese official residence, it was converted into a police station after World War II. In 1995, the second branch of Zhongzheng moved out, and after people in the art and literature circles fought for it, it was planned to be an exhibition space. In 1998, it started operation under the name of Zhongzheng Second Branch Small Theater, and in 2001 it was renamed as Guling Street Avant-Garde Theatre. The interior space includes experimental theater, art space, rehearsal field, etc. It is not only a pioneer case of the government's promotion of the reuse of old house, but also the first venue in Taiwan to be operated by a government-entrusted art organization. The theater obtained the cultural status of the historic building in 2014, and the restoration project of the historic building was carried out in 2018-2020. The theater is a five-minute walk from the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Station of the MRT. The transportation is convenient. The cache is located at the green land next to the theater. The surrounding environment is quiet and leisurely if only geocachers avoid the crowd at the performance entry time.
