This cache will bring you to a set of about 100 hidden stairs connecting the Georges River to Henry Lawson Drive between riverside residential properties. The steps are old, steep, uneven, irregular heights and quite quirky. I think they're pretty but I am also very glad they have a handrail!
Whilst the cache itself is close to the bottom, it can also be accessed from the top from Henry Lawson Drive (where there is also on-street parking). It would be more enjoyable to park at the suggested parking coordinates (Lambeth Reserve, off Henry Lawson Drive) and walk along the boardwalk and gravel path to the bottom of the stairs, which would take you no more than about 15 minutes (one way). There's 14 stairs (uneven and odd heights) to ascend to get to the cache location, whereas if you come from the top there's 75 or so in the main section (and two smaller sections of less than 10 each). The terrain rating is for the bottom access, it would be a 3 if you came from the top.
Don't forget to BYO writing implement. Cache is a micro with no room for swaps, please do not try to cram them in, in the interests of cache longevity.
Please only park at Lambeth Reserve or on Henry Lawson Drive. Whilst GZ is close to the end of Carinya Road, the parking and access is for residents only, the closest legal parking on Carinya Road is near the boat ramp, a flat walk along the street of less than ten minutes.
Why '49'? Simply because it's my 49th hide.
