This will be a series of four caches that bring a story full circle. The caches are located in places that are key to this story. Permission has been obtained to hide caches at each location.
In the 1950's, my grandparents owned and operated a dairy processing, bottling, and delivery business. My father worked for his parents as a driver for the Dairy during the day, delivering milk to homes, and leaving the glass bottles of milk in milk boxes on the customer's front steps. In the evenings and on weekends, my dad kept himself busy driving an ice cream truck around town.
In 1966, my Dad became involved in the seasonal ice cream stand at 1110 25th St. From there he has never looked back. He opened a restaurant at its current location 616 3rd St., on June 28, 1967. The special was a Brazier Deluxe burger and a milkshake for 74 cents. Throughout the years, my 3 sisters and I worked at my family’s restaurant. I was the oldest daughter and loved ice cream, but had dreams of marrying a farmer.
As I said at the beginning, this story comes full circle. I met, fell in love with, and married myself a Dairy farmer. My husband's family has milked cows and grain farmed for over 100 years.
The world works in funny ways and is not so big. My husband's grandparents may very well have sold milk to my grandparents to process, sell and deliver. The generations between then and now just love milk in any form.
This first cache is hidden at the location of my grandparents' dairy processing business. The buildings still remain but are filled with different businesses today. The only clue left that reminds me of the dairy is the current owner is using an old milk can for a mailbox stand. The owner has given me permission to hide the cache at its current location. Sorry no FTF prize in this cache, too small.
