Hello! If you are reading this, you have found this geocache or are planning to find it. This geocache is one of several I, William Bramley, put in for my Eagle Scout project. Along with being a fun experience, this geocache is one of twelve I have put down and was made to help educate you on the history of the geocache site and its surrounding area
The Community Center
The area around this geocache is home to two historic sites, along with the community center. The Community Center was built around 2007 by Rivervale Township.
Next to the Community Center, you’ll see a barren piece of the plot with nothing on it. That area actually used to be a Hockey Stadium. It was built around 1938 by John Handwerg. He also brought a Hockey team to play in it, and it was quite popular for some time until World War 2 came around, and all the players stopped coming to fight in the war. It was then mostly used as an ice rink, but unfortunately that didn’t bring in enough money to keep it going. Eventually, the stadium got converted into a warehouse, then into a factory for sporting goods, and eventually got torn down.
The area was also home to the site of Rivervale School No.2 and supposedly a shooting range. You can see the plot for the school if you go down the road a bit. Unfortunately, I have little to no information regarding these areas, but if you know anything do contact me at wlbramley@gmail.com.
