(HU) A Badacsony hegyen az 1900-as évek elején kezdték az intenzív bazaltbányászatot, amiket a hegyről csillék szállítottak le a mai badacsonytomaji strand melletti egykori csillemegállóba. (A strandról a mai napig látható a csille egykori megállója, ám sajnos magánterületen van.) Összesen megközelíthetőleg 12 millió tonna bazaltot bányásztak ki a Badacsonyból. A bányatelepet 1954-ben számolták fel, de a vasútállomás előtti emlékművet a mai napig díszíti egy onnan származó kocsi.
(EN) Badacsony (the mountain) had its first mining operations starting in the early 1900s, the mined basalt was transported from the mountain by wagons to a place next to the current Badacsonytomaj Beach. (Its stop can still be seen to this day from the Badacsonytomaj Beach, but sadly can't be visited as it is on a private property). Approximately a total of 12 million tons of basalt was mined from Badacsony mountain during the 20th century. Operations have stopped in 1954, but to this day, one cart can be seen in its original state at the memorial next to the train station
