Geocache Description:

You are standing in front of the Schreierstoren. This defense tower was built in 1487, and was originally part of the medieval city wall of Amsterdam. As the sign on the wall describes, Henry Hudson set sail from this location on his journey to Northern America. This expedition would lead to the discovery of the island of Manhattan, which later led to the settlement of New Amsterdam in 1624. The trading settlement was taken over by the English 40 years later, after which is was renamed “New York”.

In this cache you will have to look for the former historical (sometimes colonial) names of several countries, cities and islands. With the correct answers you will be able to locate the end cache. Note that certain cities or countries can have multiple former names, so look for the answers that match with the provided spaces.
