Here is another one of those small sites you may drive by for years, thoughtlessly, and then one day stop by and realize it's really very interesting and of historical significance. You can make this a P&G, but if in no hurry, sit back a moment on a sunny day and imagine this busy corner back in time, full of people waiting for trains, Mary R Bird sitting with her Children's Sewing Circle, and the fountain (now a flowerbed) being used as a drinking fountain for people, dogs and horses. Do take a moment to read the plaque and learn about Mary R. Bird, a trailblazer and member of a well-known family in Walpole.
Credit goes to Harry Murphy of Troup 44 Walpole for refurbishing this fine park for his Eagle Scout Project in 2021.
