From the sharing of ideas and in life’s happiest moments, to entertaining friends, The Venue at The Bakery Building is about having fun with what you do. The Venue was renovated to preserve the original spirit and detail of The Bakery Building but to also give it new personality created by details like more natural light, original brick walls and steel trusses, accent colors, wood floors, and reclaimed urban-industrial materials.
The building that The Venue at The Bakery Building calls home is a place of historic distinction. Built in 1926 by beloved “Dad” and “Mother Matt” Mattingly, the building was lauded as a shining example of a modern bakery and continued to bake wholesome goodness for the Hub City throughout the glory years of the 20th century.
Embedded in the brick and steel of this Downtown Hattiesburg landmark is the timeless integrity of an indomitable character that continually shines as a modern classic. Or, to put it another way, The Venue at The Bakery Building is the best thing since sliced bread!
The Hide
The cache is a small, watertight lock-and-lock container hidden in the Bakery Building's adjacent parking lot that was formerly a gas station - old pump still onsite. Events happen regularly at this location, so please be respectful of the property owner and event attendees at all times. From the hide, you'll be able to see one of the Hattiesburg Alliance for Public Art's newest murals - Daylily Destination - and the Favorite Day mural is on The Venue wall at the northwest corner of the building.
