Hattiesburg GeoTour
With more than 40 geocache hides to find, Hattiesburg offers one of only 100 active official GeoTours worldwide. Presented by VisitHATTIESBURG, the Hattiesburg GeoTour is the first of its kind in Mississippi. Cache Location
Located in the heart of Mississippi's Pine Belt region, Paul B. Johnson State Park (PBJ) is the gateway to a natural wonderland marked by majestic long-leaf and loblolly pines, delicate dogwoods, and ancient oaks. The deep forests surrounding PBJ provide a picturesque setting for a variety of outdoor activities.
PBJ facilities include visitor center and game room, picnic tables and grills, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, splash pad, disc golf, swimming, and nature trails. Fishing, boating, and water skiing are available on Geiger Lake, a 225-acre freshwater lake. There are several options when it comes to staying overnight. The park offers 125 RV campsites, 25 primitive tent campsites, 16 cabins, 3 cottages, and a group camp facility. These facilities are located in wooded areas with views of Geiger Lake.
The Hide
The cache is a medium-size, watertight container larger than a lock-and-lock but slightly smaller than an ammo can. Fully-stocked with swag and hidden with permission of the park manager. Please use stealth when searching for the cache. A day-use entry fee of $2/person is charged for all day-use visitors; children 5 years of age and under are free. At time of publishing, there are six other Geocaches to be found at PBJ.
