This is recreating a fun nighttime cache that was recently archived. We are still putting the final touches on this. It may be attempted during the day, but for the full-creepy effect, we recommend completing this while camping at the park. Greenwood is open year round, but the park is only open until dark, making this difficult during the off season or for non-campers. Please abide by all park rules and regulations.
The Gremlin of Greenwood.
It was a dark, moonless night when two young campers decided to walk to the open field at Greenwood Park for some star gazing. They were almost to the field, when a young girl in a flowing white dress appeared. “Follow me”, she said. “There is something really amazing you should see!” The girl skipped off down a trail, motioning for the campers to follow.
Always up for an adventure, they decided to follow the girl, who skipped on ahead. The campers walked deeper and deeper into the woods following the girl’s laughter. As they rounded a corner on the trail, the girl disappeared. It was so dark and the battery on their flashlight was growing dim. The campers were suddenly very scared. As they turned to run back to camp, they came face to face with a hideous gremlin with glowing orange eyes. “You look amazingly delicious” it hissed.
The campers were never seen again.
The initial coordinates are on the camp road. Head towards the campground entrance until you see the hiking trailhead and scan your flashlight to find the white reflective markers where the campers were last seen. Use a strong flashlight (make sure you have fresh batteries), and follow the markers down the trail until you see 3 white markers on a single tree (triangle). Stop here and scan the light into the woods to find the gremlin’s orange glowing eyes. You can find the cache here, if you dare!
