Geocache Description:

Aiz garās sienas slēpjas ne tikai sena armijas mazuta bāze, bet arī viena no garākajām graffiti galerijām, kuru esmu apskatījis Rīgā.

Pati teritorijas vēsture gan miglā tīta. No vietējo stāstiem zināms, ka PSRS laikā šeit bijusi mazuta / degvielas bāze armijas vajadzībām.

Behind the long wall hides not only an old military fuel base but also one of the longest graffiti galleries I have seen in Riga.

The history of the territory itself is somewhat shrouded in mystery. According to local stories, during the Soviet era, there was a fuel base here for the needs of the army. It is known that there is also a real bunker on the premises. It's no secret that due to the indifference of the soldiers, this place is completely ruined. Once, I met a person who served here, and his story was quite horrifying. Apparently, the soldiers, intoxicated with alcohol, once forgot to turn off the pumping station. In the morning, there was supposedly a 20-centimeter layer of fuel all over the area. The Russian army didn't bother to clean it up; they collected the spilled fuel in tankers and simply poured it in various places around Mežaparks on the other side of the fence.

So, what's behind the fence is not of interest to us. It's all legends, of course. From my experience, I can say that anything deeper than a meter from the surface of the soil, be it a pit or a water puddle, truly reeks of diesel in this area.

Local residents strongly advise against picking mushrooms or berries in this area under any circumstances. :)

The large wall, on the inside, has become a full-length art gallery. Technically, it is probably forbidden, but personally, I climbed over the fence and explored the entire gallery, which stretches for several hundred meters.
