This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible to be Unarchived.

Geocache Description:

You are currently standing near the Stern Plate of the famous WWII carrier USS Enterprise. This is the only surviving piece left of the once-great Carrier. This Carrier could carry up to 90 planes at a time and seemed almost unsinkable at the time. This carrier saw battles ranging from Midway to Okinawa. Following Japan's surrender, she was used to transport our soldiers back home. The Enterprise was decommissioned in 1947 and scrapped in 1958, her stern plate, a 12x17 ft flag, two lanterns, a boxing bell, and 5 logbooks were able to be saved from being dumped and were originally at the Orangeburg Historical Museum before coming to the River Vale library.
