Orti Urbani di via Valla 🇮🇹
Gli Orti di via Valla sono una piccola oasi di verde che sorge nella zona 5 della città di Milano, a metà strada fra il quartiere Stadera e il quartiere Vigentino.
Verso la fine degli anni ’70 il terreno era in stato di abbandono e il Comune di Milano aveva la necessità di recuperare l’area per restituirla alla comunità della zona. Si presentò così all’appello Luigi Mario Fanton, presidente della Cooperativa Sportiva Valla, che prese in carico la riqualificazione dell’area con l’obiettivo di trasformarla in un polo di aggregazione sociale e sportiva per i cittadini della zona. Grazie all’appoggio dell’Azienda Elettrica Municipale (AEM), la Cooperativa seppe trasformare l’incolta area verde ricavandone un laghetto centrale di acqua sorgiva circondato da ben 120 orti urbani, gestiti da pensionati residenti nelle vicinanze.
Ad oggi gli Orti di via Valla rappresentano un piccolo polmone sociale di verde nel quale è piacevole passeggiare. Sbirciando tra le siepi degli orti è possibile vedere frutta, verdura e bellissimi fiori colorati, soprattutto nella stagione primaverile. Nei fossati ai lati del sentiero che si addentra negli orti è frequente incontrare rane, girini e piccoli pesci, che abitano anche le placide acque del laghetto assieme ad una numerosa famiglia di tartarughe!

Via Valla's Vegetable Gardens 🇬🇧
Via Valla's Vegetable Gardens are a small green oasis in Milan's Zona 5, halfway between "quartiere Stadera" and "quartiere Vigentino".
Towards the end of 1970s this terrain was completely neglected and abandoned and the City of Milan wanted to restore the area for the local community. Thus, Luigi Mario Fanton, president of "Cooperativa Sportiva Valla", took charge of the area's redevelopement with the aim of turning it into a social and sporting center for the locals. Thanks to the support of the Municipal Electricity Company (AEM), Fanton's Cooperativa was able to transform this uncultivated green area, creating a central pond of spring water together with 120 vegetable gardens, managed by pensioners who live nearby.
Today, via Valla's Vegetable Gardens represent a small green lung in which people usually like to go for a pleasant walk. Peering through the garden's hedges you may see fruits, vegetables and colorful flowers, especially during spring season. In the ditches along the path it's common to meet frogs, tadpoles and small fish who live in the pond's placid water, together with a large family of turtles!
