Welcome to another place that if you didn't know was there you wouldn't know it was there. This is French Prairie State Park. I have put out a blue bird house in the woods. I usually give you some kind of description of the cache along with some instructions on getting to the log. This time I am going to let you figure it out. There is a story that goes with this cache too that I found out about after I published it
Around the turn of the century this area was sparse and there wasn’t much here except the town of Butteville. The store there is the oldest operating retail store in Oregon. There wasn’t much then to keep the river from flooding its banks a few times a year. During one of those floods a couple in a small boat crashed onto some rocks where French Prairie State Park is today. The man was badly hurt and his wife not much better. They made their way to dry land and started walking to get help. After a short time he was so injured he had to just sit against a tree to rest where he promptly died. She was so distraught that she sat down next to him and cried herself to death from a broken heart. I suppose the punctured lung she had didn’t help. It was not until they were putting in the park that they found their bones. After talking to an old man whose family grew up in Butteville I found out the area where I put this cache is where they were found. I’m not saying nothing here now, but the trees won’t grow there and when I was there it may have been the wind or an animal but even before I heard this story putting out the cache I thought I heard what one could only call moaning. I’m just saying. I’m sure it was just my imagination. have fun and cache on!!
