Note the attributes, livestock only applies if you continue the walk, either up to the Ballakindry path or down through Ballagarmin and Ballablack to theΒ main road to Ballabeg. Going up you can either go east at the tholtan towards Ballabeg (emerging at Ballakindry Mill) or north up to the Colby Glen Road. The special tool required should be obtainable on site.
The infamous Hill-man is back! Having disappeared into the far northern regions of the island on a wild-game safari (wild-goose chase as those who know him will have realised), he has returned to his native south. Someone has had a word in his ear about "civiliazaishun yessir" so he has taken up residence in one of the quieter estates in Colby. Still being of the outdoors persuasion he has taken several wanders around the area, losing some time in search of 'The Missing Mill Pond'. Progressing up 'Colby Glen' he finds 'Colby Glen Waterfall' which he sees immediately would be far more suitable than the spot he uses when 'he (Hill-man) fills the Bottle'. Having decided to head for the delights of Port Erin and Port St Mary he inspects 'Church Micro 14246 Colby Methodist' but decides it is just a normal chapel not some sort of model so hops on the bus. (It doesn't get any better folks, neither does he, I don't blame you for giving up in boredom by now and going home for tea!). On another of his strolls, this time on a vague search for some of our maritime connections and history and as usual taking the wrong route to the wrong place he found a secluded little glen which he reckoned needed marking with a geocache, "Which is why you've been droag down here boy".
Not being an incorrigible prat (honestly) he decided this needed to be a multicache, as having people scratching around the well-tended gardens might not end well. At the given co-ords you will find (I hope) a tall black pole. Quite close there is a box on a stake, within said box lives a magnetic cat, strange animal, looking after the final co-ordinates. Please replace it as found to save me catching another, they're getting rarer I hear. Don't worry about the neighbours, they're mostly friendly and don't bite (much, I can't comment on the muttles, I tend to run away.) We suggest you follow the pavement up the road from the pole and take the cut-through between 117 and 118 rather than going back down the road and picking up the path behind the houses. Any maps you have that show a footpath behind the houses are in fact correct, it does exist, trust me here, having met a couple of D.O.I. staff on site. Even I thought the right of way had been extinguished, and one of the householders has quietly encouraged that general belief. D.O.I. were emphatic here, so use of the path should be encouraged. Too many of our little paths have been lost to neglect! It would make a possible alternative return route to the road if you aren't continuing along the field paths. If anyone tries to be awkward I recommend quiet withdrawal and pass the word to the relevant D.O.I. office.
No livestock, pets or wildlife were harmed during the creation of this geocache. Don't ask me about family or friends. Just don't ask, OK?
Text in red may be of some interest to geocachers, text in blue I stand by.
