Geocache Description:

Container is not at posted coordinates in the river. I think that is where York, Dauphin, and Lancaster Counties meet. Maybe.

You need to complete the three northernmost locations of the Energy Sources of the Susquehanna Adventure Lab. Visit those locations and answer the questions to reveal the coordinates for this bonus cache. It is a small purple-wrapped pill bottle at eye level where a large tree trunk splits into two trunks, It is off a small trail off the lightly used trail.

The Susquehanna River serves as an energy resource as it runs between Lancaster and York Counties. Falling water and river flow "fuel" the hydroelectric dams. The water itself is used as coolant and to generate steam. The height of the hills help provide updraft for wind. Power plants from York Haven to Conowingo include hydroelectric, wind, waste, coal or natural gas, nuclear, and pump storage. It's quite a variety.

This AL explores views of York Haven low-head dam, Brunner Island coal/natural gas plant, LCSWMA's waste-to-energy plant, Turkey Hill wind turbines, and Lake Clarke which is Safe Harbor Dam's pond. It is a combination of driving, short walks, and one long steep yet satisfying hike up Turkey Hill.

The lab is a partner to my Energy Sources on the Lower Susquehanna lab.
