Geocache Description:

This is a bonus cache for the "Newton Solney" Adventure Lab. The posted co-ordinates will take you to the centre of the village where there may be free parking available on the streets but please be considerate of local residents. This is a good place to start the Labs as all of the stages are within walking distance of here (and it is recommended to complete the Labs on foot). The Lab stages can be played in any order but the stage titles have a number that is used to give the required sequence of the bonus information.

Newton Solney is a small village and civil parish in South Derbyshire, about two miles southwest of Repton. It sits at the confluence of the Rivers Trent and Dove. Formerly the River Trent could be forded here (please don't try this!) and indeed the OS map still shows a bridle path crossing the river but you won't find a way across. Anglian invaders in the 6th century called it Niwantune meaning "the new farm". After the Norman invasion the area passed to a a Norman by the name of "de Solney" and by around 1300 it became known as Newton Solney. Norman knights were fond of hunting and the de Solneys created a hunting park out of the woodland. The first church was built in the 12th Century. There would also have been a manor house, likely somewhere near the present Newton Park Hotel.

In order to find the bonus you will need to note down the 7 bonus letters (1 or 2 per Lab stage) and place them in the order they are given you in the Lab stages (the stages are numbered for that reason!) - you do not need to rearrange them. Enter this word into Certitude to receive the final co-ordinates and a hint. Note, the letters are found on the journal page of each Lab stage. You may find this is not displayed for the last stage you complete (you will see the overall Lab completion page) but simply go back into the journal to find the letters.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude
