霞ヶ浦用水は、豊かな水量を持つ霞ヶ浦を取水源に、県西南部17市町の地域に農業用水、水道用水及び工業用水を総合的、安定的に供給する体制を確立し、豊かな地域作りを推進するとともに、生活及び産業基盤の充実を図ることを目的とした総合用水事業です。
霞ヶ浦から汲み上げられた水は、パイプラインを通って桜川市にある南椎尾調整池（つくし湖）で一旦貯水されます。その後、自然流下でパイプラインを通って長者池揚水機場に送られてきます。

Water pumped from Kasumigaura is temporarily stored at the Minami Shiio Regulating Pond (Tsukushi Lake) in Sakuragawa City via a pipeline. After that, the water is sent through the pipeline by natural flow to the Choja Pond pumping station.
