飯田ダムは、那珂川水系涸沼川支川飯田川の茨城県笠間市飯田地先に多目的ダムとして建設したもので、平成4年3月に完成しました。笠間湖の名称で親しまれているダム湖は手のひらのように多くの沢が入り組んでおり、小魚が生息するには絶好の環境となっています。ダム建設にあたってはダム湖周辺の環境をできるだけ保存し、動植物、魚類、鳥類の保護、増殖等の取組がなされました。

The Iida Dam was constructed as a multipurpose dam in the Iida area of Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, on the Iida River, a branch of the dry river in the Naka River system, and was completed in March 1992. The dammed lake, which is popularly known as Lake Kasama, has many streams that intersect it like the palm of your hand, making it a perfect habitat for small fish. In constructing the dam, efforts were made to preserve the environment around the dam lake as much as possible, and to protect and propagate plants, animals, fish, and birds.
