HU: A kelenföldi lakótelep építése 1966-1983 között zajlott. A hajdan mocsaras területen megépült lakótelepen összesen 9387 lakást adtak át, emellett különböző szolgáltató épületek (boltok, mozi, iskolák, stb.) is épültek. Napjainkban a terület -többek között a 4-es metró és az 1-es villamos megjelenésének hatására- dinamikusan fejlődik. 2021-ben megnyílt az Etele pláza, akkori megfogalmazásuk szerint az ország első okosplázája.
Szerencsére az épületek mellett maradt elegendő zöldterület is, a kezdeti kopár állapothoz képest mára tekintélyes méretet elért fákkal, amelyekben itt-ott képzőművészeti alkotások színesítik a mindennapjainkat. Egy részük meglehetősen rövid időt élt meg, mint például a rendszerváltás előtt emelt utolsó politikus-emlékmű, számos viszont a mai napig megvan. Ezek egyike az Etele és a Tétényi út kereszteződésénél lévő parkban található Az építés története.
EN: The construction work for the Kelenfold housing district took place between 1966 and 1983. In all, 9387 homes were constructed in living complexes on the originally swampy area, along with supporting infrastructure (including shops, movie theaters, schools, etc.). Today the area is still a vibrant and dynamically growing community, not in the least because of the new subway line 4 and the tram line 1. In 2021, a new shopping center, the Etele Mall opened here; the first ‘smart mall’ of the country as it was advertised at the time.
Fortunately, construction was planned with enough green space, and the originally barren parks that are also home to fine art and sculptures today boast sizable, mature trees. Some of the sculptures were removed, like the last of the communist era monuments dedicated to a political figure, but many can still be found in the parks. One of them is in the park at the intersection of Etele Street and Tetenyi Street.
HU: A kompozíció Garányiné Staindl Katalin Munkácsy-díjas keramikus, szobrász alkotása. A szobrot 1981-ben állították, a lakótelep építőinek tiszteletére, ahogyan a rajta olvasható felirat is tanúsítja.
Az égetett mázas samottból készült emlékmű az építés folyamatát és szereplőit mutatja, az ókortól kezdve napjainkig. Mintái mellett a tömbökből építkező struktúrája is fokozza a művészi hatást.
Sajnos a 2020-as építkezések során a szobor megrongálódott.
EN: The composition in question is the work of Katalin Staindl Garanyine, ceramist and sculptor, a merited artist of the Munkacsy prize. As the plaque on it states, it was created to honor the original construction workers of the housing district. The glazed fireclay memorial depicts scenes of construction technologies from antiquity to modern methods. Its block-based structure creates a well-matched harmony with its decorative patterns.
Unfortunately, the statue suffered some damage during the 2020 construction work in the area.
