While driving home to Manhattan from Council Grove on Labor Day via the back roads on a beautiful summer afternoon we came upon this well maintained country cemetery with picturesque views in the distance. It is located about 2 miles north of Kelso and not far from recreation and camping areas. We thought it would be a nice location for geocachers to visit.
Kelso, Kansas is listed as a village in Neosho Township and is located NW of Council Grove. There are a few buildings and a church located at the intersection of Parkerville Road (M Avenue) and Kelso Road (S 1300 Rd).
The road is fairly busy (at least while KS 177 is closed for road construction) so pull completely off the road into the cemetery access. The day we visited there was a large enough area of mowed, level ground outside the gate to get your vehicle off the gravel road.
