This is one of a set of paddle caches on Cowan Lake at Cowan Lake State Park and is named after a form of wildlife observed during the placing of these caches.
The cache is best attempted from a kayak or canoe, but may possibly be reachable by a shallow draft motorboat (please note that Cowan Lake has a 10-hp limit for boats with motors). This cache is also possible, but difficult, to get from land with some wading required (hence the 4.5 terrain rating).
The caches were placed from a kayak when the water on Cowan Lake was just barely running over the spillway (to give you an idea of where the caches may be relative to water level).
Waypoints for five different boat launches on Cowan Lake may be found on this cache page.
