The railway between Armidale and Glen Innes is part of the Great Northern Railway Line but this section of the track closed after 1988. There are hopes for a new rail trail/bike trail to be constructed over the tracks to increase tourism and employment in the villages along this route. The council estimated that the New England Rail Trail would attract 15,000 new day visits and 14,000 new overnight stays to the region annually, as well as being used by the roughly 37,000 local residents.
But! Until this happens, the traintracks are a great places to hide caches and we will make the most of it
