Geocache Description:

Another cache in a National Numbered Series of Letterbox Hybrid caches, placed to mark one of a diminishing number of post boxes placed in Queen Victoria’s reign and still in use for regular collections by Royal Mail.

A few simple guidelines apply to the series (subject to amendment):

  • The post box must carry the Royal Cipher of Queen Victoria (in whatever format)
  • The box must have regular collections by Royal Mail
  • The box must be in the British Isles (so United Kingdom and adjoining Crown Dependencies).
  • Any style or colour of box are valid as long as the above all apply

THE INK PAD AND STAMP ARE NOT SWAG - PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE

In way of celebration of the ascension of King Charles III, we have decided to base this Letterbox Hybrid around the new King, and the postbox that was placed here in the reign of his Great-Great-Great-Grandmother.

Your first task is to solve a jigidi puzzle which can be found here. This will give you the Northings.

For the Westings, please find the following information from the postbox, which can be found at the headline coordinates, and translate them thus: W004 HK.(J-L)(F-G)(H*L)

The last collection time Mon-Fri =F
The last collection time Sat =G
The time a later collection is made from the postbox at Holmbush Post Office =H
The time the latest collection is made from St. Austell Delivery Office =J
The postbox number = PL2K LGD

You should now be ready to find the cache. Good luck!

THE INK PAD AND STAMP ARE NOT SWAG - PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE

If you know of an eligible post box and would like to add to this series, please apply to Team Hippo for a series number, giving the following:

  • Location as in place name (and street if applicable)
  • Location in Lat Long format (DD MM.MMM)
  • Postbox number

Please note that featured post boxes should comply with the guidelines above. Caches should be Letterbox Hybrid type (and therefore contain a LB stamp), whether placed at the published co-ords, or a simple offset multi, or multi-stage multi, or more of a puzzle style format.
