Athene Noctua at Lady Eucalypta was previously know as AN at Eucalypta but the original area is no longer suitable for the placement of a cache. Also looking for the cache meant you had to go through the increasing amount of rubbish left behind by people. So after consulting with our Cypriot caching friends, we decided to make a new cache that will still take you to the beautiful area around the Polis campsite and its impressive Eucalyptus woods.
Even though this is a cache in the Athena Noctua series it is different from other ones, that take you to abandoned places and special views in Cyprus. The cache is near the Polis campsite with its beautiful beach and the Eucalyptus forest. The beach is small but attractive and offers the shade of the many eucalyptus trees. After we visited the forest in the summer of 2018 a fire broke out and destroyed many of the trees. Visitors of the campsite had to be evacuated. The campsite is operational again, but 'wild' camping is also evident. It is nice that the original campsite is restored ias the trees are fantastic.
As with all Athene Noctua caches our caching friends (Platonas2) will be the guardians of the cache when we are not in Cyprus.
