This small light house is placed at Peterhead harbour entrance. Following the disastrous losses suffered by the herring fleet in August 1848 when inefficient lighting was held responsible, Thomas Stevenson had undertaken to provide lighthouses at both harbour entrances. This lighthouse was refurbished by CHAP Construction Aberdeen, Stonecraft of Elgin and the Peterhead Port Authority Workforce.
