Geocache Description:

Who was Whartons Dock road named after? Mr. Ray Wharton.

Ray was a World Champion Calf roper back in 1956, born in Kerrville TX and Lived in Bandera..

He is listed on the Rodeo Champions plaque that sits on the Bandera Courthouse steps.

Ray had been the owner of the property that starts down the road a ways and then goes all the way to the shore of Medina lake.  At the end of Whartons Dock road, had been Ray's Dock.  When Bandera county named the road, he asked that it be named Whartons Dock Rd and the county agreed.
