世田谷城は吉良氏によって築かれた平城で、世田谷に本拠を置いた奥州吉良氏が代々居を構えました。
城は経堂台地から南に突き出た舌状台地上に占地し、城域の三方を取り囲む様に麓を烏山川が流れ天然の堀を成しています。豪徳寺付近に本丸を置き、現在の世田谷城阯公園付近まで城域が拡がっていたものと考えられています。

Setagaya Castle was built by the Kira clan, and was the residence of the Oshu Kira clan, which was based in Setagaya for generations.
The castle was situated on a tongue-shaped plateau jutting out from the Kyodo Plateau to the south, and the Karasuyama River flowed through the foot of the castle to form a natural moat, surrounding the castle area on three sides. It is thought that the castle's main citadel was located near Gotokuji Temple, and that the castle area extended as far as the current Setagaya Castle Park.
