Deliveroute
It was shaping up as a busy night at my job as a take out delivery man for the Door-to-Doorsman food delivery service. I pumped up the tyres on my trusty bicycle, checked my messages for the night's job list, and turned on my Dougal Maps, ready to navigate to the first order. Maybe tonight I wouldn't get lost, well there's always a first time.
Order 1: Sushi platter and a portion of Chicken Teriaki from Restaurant Yojimbo. - deliver for 7:15pm. No tip? Hmmm, ok I was a bit late.
Order 2: 3 Chicken Biryanis with Screaming Lava sauce and a Garlic Nan from Bhaji Smugglers. This was 7 mins away but I had to pick it up and then deliver it to the next customer for 7:30, yikes!! Pedalled like hell over there. GPS was on the blink so when I got there I found two houses on the street to choose from, which one was the the right customer? Got there eventually however, job done. A quid tip too - nice.
Order 3: A Pizza Diablo and a Penne Picante from The Cal Zone - and then I lucked out as on the way there I also got an urgent order through on my phone, Order 4: Sweet and Sour Pork with Noodles from Of Rice and Men to deliver to a flat next to the train station which was near the pizza order. So I added the two orders together and did them in a single journey just on schedule at 8:00. Tip of a couple of quid, not bad at all.
Order 5: A Whammy Burger, 2 large fries and a Texan fried chicken wrap from Burgatory, to be delivered at 8:30pm. Not too much of a rush from the last order, as it was quite nearby. However, disaster struck as I hit a pothole and my tyre burst just outside the address! Nightmare. Very nearly dropped all the food, but just managed to hang on to it and then get it to the customer as promised. Got another quid too.
Had to call it a night after that. Looks like all my tips from tonight are going on buying a new inner tube for my bike. Typical!
