Nestled in one of the city’s most desirable subdivisions, Carriage Lane proudly presents its newest attraction: a giant subdivision sign AND a geocache glow-up to match. The neighborhood recently replaced its old wooden sign with a brand-new, polished, very fancy one. Naturally, I couldn’t let the sign level up without giving the geocache the same five-star treatment.
Because this spot isn’t just any old corner of the subdivision. Oh no. This was the site of my 4th ever geocache hide.
The History: From Popcorn to Puzzle
Long ago, when I was just a rookie cacher fumbling my way through the art of container selection, I proudly placed a geocache here using the most cutting-edge technology I could get my hands on:
🥁 a plastic popcorn container with a hole drilled in the lid.
Yes, really. Don’t laugh too hard — it worked. (Mostly.) People found it. Logs were signed. Popcorn dust may or may not have been inhaled.
But deep down, I always knew this sign was destined for greatness. After more than 500 cache hides since then, countless containers upgraded, tested, and retired, the time has come. The subdivision replaced its sign, and I’ve replaced my old popcorn relic.
Ladies and gentlemen, cachers near and far: welcome to Carriage Lane Version Two.
The Sign Glow-Up
- Then: A decent, weathered wooden sign. Functional. Reliable. Not bad for its time.
- Now: A gleaming, freshly built, subdivision masterpiece. So fancy that squirrels take selfies in front of it. So stately that it deserves its own Instagram influencer account.
Out with the old, in with the new — and not just for the sign.
The Cache Glow-Up
