Back for it's fifth incarnation..... the one, the only..... Christmas Day meet up on Bishy Beach!!!
It's the must attend meet of the year!
Christmas morning at 07:30- come and enjoy Bishy Beach! I will be here between 07:30 and 08:00, and hopefully I shall not be alone! I haven't been so far but maybe this year....
'Bishy Beach' is a gravel beach that lays alongside the River Itchen. The beach is accessible for most of the year, bar when there has been unusual periods of heavier rain. In the summer, children can be found here, playing in the rivers edge. For the Meet, you could bring your swimming costume, but we do discourage people from going in so as not to churn up the river bed and scare the swans.
Parking is available in the road alongside the meeting point - I don't anticipate a large turn out so there should be plenty of space for those who wish to join the now annual event :-)
There are no facilities here at all (there is one bench, but as a rule it is quite wet at that time of year!), but you can access the area with prams, etc.
As the meet is adjacent to the river, care will need to be taken if you bring along children or other animals whom may have a liking for 'diving in'.
Hopefully I will see you there for some jollity and fun- a Christmas themed hat always goes down well!
