This is a cache place in our hometown of Calgary to memorialize a restaurant that used to be located across the street, the Blue House Café. The Blue House closed in Autumn of 2016 and has not reopened. It was a delightful place to enjoy seafood-centric Latin American dishes, a pleasant atmosphere, and occasional flamenco music!
The Blue House was also a place near and dear to Team Boylailey on a personal level, since it was the site of our very first date! We had dinner here on December 9th, 2006 and the rest is history. The cache was placed on September 21st, 2022, which is precisely 2112 5849 days after our first date. The number 5849 has no significance to anyone whatsoever, as far as I can tell. So, now it is ours forever.
The number 2112 does not have any particular significance for us, but it is a perfectly serviceable Rush album.
Notes!
- Be stealthy! Even in the presence of unwitting bystanders in this busy area, the cache can be found, signed, and returned to its home (as long as they're not sitting in the wrong spot!)
- Be sure to bring your own pen/pencil (BYOP). Tweezers may also be helpful for removing and returning the log from the tiny magnet-backed micro-sized cache.
- When replacing the cache, please carefully ensure the cache is closed and the magnet is properly affixed. Some of the materials surrounding the hiding spot are not made of metal so it could easily fall onto the ground.
