This lake has been our favorite for many long years - with its beautiful trees, its old WPA era facilities reminiscent of older national parks, its nature library, beautiful winding road circumnavigating the lake and more recently, many new trails. The fall colors here are fantastic. For the past 31 years, we've enjoyed living only 10 minutes from this park, and the first cache we ever found was in this park (we ended up adopting it and it's still active)! We were glad that another annual picnic ended up here for 2022! So what could be more fitting than to add one more geocache for this year's picnic?
This one is easily retrieved by kayak, though with a tott and significant hiking it could be retrieved from land. If using a kayak, you should be aware that a boat permit is required (must be purchased at marina or Wyandotte County Parks office), and you'll need to use the designated launch area (see additional waypoints near the beach shelter).
Whether you kayak or hike, we hope you enjoy your visit to this hidden gem of a park!
