Big Head Ted is in memory & honor of my dog ,Teddy who was a Bull Mastiff. He was very protective of me yet a friendly giant. We also have a female bull mastoff -Molly who is a gentle giant and loves everyone who pats her & a Schit Tzu-Shaggy who thinks he's as big as tTeddy & Molly & is a great escape artist.. Teddy was the elder and leader of the trio. He was very special to me and our family & we miss his prescenceevery day. May he Rest in Peace. My Grandmother & I have hiked in Eagle Lake & geocached there. We came upon this bench in front of the stream & thought this would be a beautiful place for a geocache. It is very tranquil & a great place to sit & enjoy the beauty of nature & listen for squirrels, chickadees, nut hatches & tapping of woodpeckers overhead. Follow the Appleton Loop Trail-blue dot trail. Cross a stone wall, hike through MT Laurel & step over an occasional log. At the fork in the trail turn left. You will pass 2 wood bridges for mud along the way. It is about0.75 miles to the bench. To get back to the parking area , you can finish the loop trail or go back the same way you came. It is both the same distance round trip-1.5 miles. If you decide on finishing the loop trail turn right at the Asnebumskit Loop trail marker to the parking area. Follow the yellow dots to the parking area.. I received permission to place this geocache from CindyDunn on 9/1/22 of Mass Audobon. She emphasized- no pets allowed on the trails.
