Welcome to Alamance County's newest natural area, opened May of 2020. The Longleaf trail is the second loop opened in the park, so named due to the Longleaf pines scattered through the area. As you can learn from signs along the trail, the Longleaf pine benefits from regular episodes of fire. You know what doesn't benefit? A geocache! The last prescribed fire in this area took out both the host and the first cache placed along this loop. If you found that prior cache, you may remember this area. The near complete destruction of the prior host has allowed for what I hope is an even better hide in this area. Trailhead is accessed from the parking lot at the end of the gravel drive.
