There is an interesting comparison between most nuts and geocaches.
Most have three identical layers.
THE OUTER LAYER: The camouflage. For the nut it is the husk and for the geocache it is the paint or tape.
THE MIDDLE LAYER: The hard container or shell. It needs to be removed to get at the nut or the log.
THE INNER LAYER: The prize. Is the nut or the log.
The nuts with 3 layers are called stone-fruits. Almonds, cashews, Brazil nuts, walnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, pistachios, pine nuts, and most other nuts are in this category.
Nuts with 2 layers are called true nuts which include chestnuts, acorns, and hazelnuts. They differ from the stone-fruits because they don't have the husk outer layer.
Peanuts are just the odd man out and are considered legumes.
One nut that is most interesting is the WALNUT. It is the only nut that comes in black or white.The black walnut, which originated in native America, has a bolder, earthier flavour and is one of the most expensive nuts on the market. White walnuts originated in Europe and have a milder taste and thinner shell allowing easier access to the nut.
All this nutty information above, is just interesting trivia and has nothing to do with solving this puzzle.

I = Maxene, a sooty tern, LaVerne, a puffin and Patty, a petrel, were sisters who had a reputation for getting themselves into trouble, when they hit the dark rum and coca cola. On the way home from the bar, Patty decided they should rob a Shell station. As Maxene, the safe cracker, went to work, LaVerne kept tapping her on the shoulder, to which Maxene responded, “Nut now, I’m busy!” Alas, LaVerne’s warning went unheeded, and they all ended up in the pokey. Maxene and LaVerne said to Patty “We are going to crack you one if you ever come up with a nutty idea like that again.”
V = On the 20th of March 1991, The Pearly Gates Choir was practicing a very special song to welcome Conor. The choir was composed of a motley crew of characters.
