Geocache Description:

The geocache is not at the listed coordinates.

What IS at the listed coordinates is Neranwood Park.

Park your vehicle here then start your walk, UP. Allow 4 hours.

This bushland area is a secret holiday destination for the deity Meretseger so respect this land. She protects this area from criminals and oath breakers, striking all those with evil intent down with snakebites. She has witnessed desecration of her home in Egypt and does not want to see the same here.

Locals know this information but are secretive about it. They are well aware of the tracks up here and know they are safe for everyone, BUT, they are also well aware that going beyond the tracks is a journey into an unknown future. Meretseger is a little paranoid and does not like company. A snake army is her first line of defence. If you are lucky enough to make it past this line you will arrive where her sacrifices are tethered to a galvanised iron pole set in concrete, 1.6m deep. Just before Dinner time she visits this location to collect the gifts left for her then proceeds to prepare a meal before finally sitting down to eat. The location of her dining area has secretive views of some of the Gold Coast. She does not like uninvited guests, however, if you are brave enough, this location will provide you coordinates for the treasure you seek. A large (and guarded!) ammo can awaits intrepid adventurers. Sign the logbook to prove you survived.

---------------

Upon completion of the Wherigo cartridge you will be presented with coordinates of the guarded geocache container and a spoiler image. Even though you should be able to access that page any time after completion, I recommend taking a screenshot of this information. Wherigos have been known to be unstable and not work as they should. The below Certitude checker is your backup after a screenshot. If for whatever reason the Wherigo fails to complete in the field, send me an image with yourself or your geo-name on something with the galvanised iron pole (extra social status provided if you have the blaze tree in the image) and I will send back the final coordinates.

What is Wherigo?

Wherigo is a toolset for creating and playing GPS-enabled adventures in the real world. By integrating a Wherigo experience, called a cartridge, with finding a geocache, the geocaching hunt can be an even richer experience. Among other uses, Wherigo allows geocachers to interact with physical and virtual elements such as objects or characters while still finding a physical geocache container. A Wherigo-enabled GPS device is required to play a cartridge. Learn more at Wherigo.com

To find a Wherigo Cache, you need an app that has the ability to play Wherigo cartridges. The following apps have this capability:

iPhone
Wherigo® - Wherigo specific application

Android
WhereYouGo - Wherigo specific application
Geooh Go - Geocaching application with Wherigo cartridge functionality

These apps allow you to play interactive game cartridges in the real world. Explore new locations, solve puzzles, or experience an interactive fictional story in the real world using only a GPS-enabled device. See step-by-step instructions

This is my first Wherigo Cache and a test for me to see how the progress goes. It will take you on a challenging steep hike then a short trek into the unknown. There are no significant views or captivating history but you may encounter some interesting wildlife. The off-track section is simply a nice place to walk.. well.. that's my opinion. This type of walk is not for everyone. Follow the terrain contour, examine the above topo map. I've been out here 4 times. On my last visit it was clear a group of people or a significant number of wildlife made some paths beyond the log. There is more than one. Be careful NOT to follow a path that drops too much in elevation. Focus on following the contour (elevation, ignore paths, stay high). This will make this section an easy walk. The off-track section for many will be difficult to navigate yet easy for others. If you're new of off-track hiking do not attempt this alone. Areas like this are deceptively easy to get lost in. The waypoints beyond the log are not straight line journeys. It is possible to do them that way but you will be making things more difficult than they need to be.

Also, on three of my four visits, I've seen a VERY large Coastal Carpet Python at the same location. It's almost certainly a female and at the larger end of the size scale for this snakle type, 4+m.

The Python - IMAGES - These snakes can live up to around 20 years.

Thanks to icklelego for joining me on one of my treks out here to examine the remains of an old geodetic station and for helping me with this geocache. She lives in Ireland, the land where according to Irish lore, Ireland used to have snakes until St. Patrick chased them all into the ocean many many years ago. What's missing in the Irish lore is they all swam to Australia..

You can validate your solution with certitude.
