Added Spices:
National Pickle Day was first celebrated in 1949, initiated and supported by the Pickle Packers Association. Though it has been celebrated for over 70 years, the original holiday was observed on various days. The founder of the day remains unknown. The first National Pickle Day celebration took place in New York in 2001.
Here, in the US, the word "pickle" has become synonymous with pickled cucumbers. A pickled cucumber is a small or miniature cucumber that has been pickled in a brine, vinegar, or other solutions and left to ferment for a period of time.
Cats vs. Cucumbers? Cats are hypersensitive to their surroundings, so it's the sudden appearance of a random object that has them spooked. Cucumbers also look quite snake-like on first glance, so this may be why this vegetable provokes such an extreme reaction. Please don't try this at home, though – it's stressful for the cats!
