Geocache Description:

In the early years of Clacton-on-Sea (The late Victorian period) the cliff tops here were quite rugged but by 1900 they were cut back and graded and cliff top planting began.

The formal gardens were originally laid out in 1921, and in 1924 the original garden was re designed with the War Memorial at its centre, and it became the Memorial Garden. Exotic plants such as palm trees were introduced for the first time. Early photographs show that some of the flower gardens look today very much as they did in the mid 1920's. More recent works include the creation of access ramps to enable disabled access to the sunken gardens.

The adventure is not in sequential order, however if you are planning to pick up the bonus cache you might like to start at the Garden of Remembrance. The co-ordinates for the bonus cache will be revealed as you complete the adventure.

The cache can be found at N 51 47.ABC E01 08.DCE
