南湖森林公園は、日本最古といわれる公園である史跡名勝南湖公園の北西に隣接し、市街地に存在する里山として、20．4ｈaの広大な面積を有しています。遊歩道を進んで行くと展望台もあります。その入り口でもある菅生舘駐車場に設置しました。
