Was heading South when I suddenly spotted this new parking and information boards going in. Hoping they will develop the area further to make some picnic areas and a nice path to the river.
Some of the areas I was eyeing up for a 10L container are at risk due to the tree felling and tidy up being done. So for now it is an eclipse tin out of the way of the works.
As it is a welcome to the Catlins, all of the signs are if you are travelling South. If you are coming from the Catlins, don't expect there to be any signs.
For more information before you come to the area check out the free website https://www.catlins.org.nz/
Be aware a fair percentage of the Catlins has no or very poor mobile phone converage, so here is a good spot to check you have your caches downloaded to an offline list.
Remember to bring your own pen - it will also be helpful if someone pushed it too far in.
