F.Q. Hartman Field
The team settled at the F. Q. Hartman field, which was donated by local businessman Ferdinand Q. Hartman in 1921.
The land was originally leased to the Rotary Club in 1921. The cost of the lease was $1 a year for 99 years. It was called the Rotary Field and used for a variety of sports.
By 1933 the Rotary Club had trouble keeping up the maintenance of the field, so Hartman turned the stadium over to the Danville School District for $1 with a stipulation that the name be changed to F.Q. Hartman Athletic Field.
Lights were added to the field in 1932. An amplifier was added in 1936 so fans could hear the details of the game.
The cornerstone of the field house, a Works Progress Administration project, was laid in 1937.
After 8 decades of use as predominantly a football stadium, historic F.Q. Hartman Field saw its final scholastic game in 2001 with the opening of the new athletic complex at the Danville Area High School.
