La Rosa de los Vientos y Ramon Llull

Ramon Llull, natural de Mallorca, vivió de 1232 a 1316 y fue un autor muy productivo y versátil que expresó sus pensamientos en latín, catalán y árabe. El núcleo de la obra de Llull es lo que él llamó Ars (Arte): un método general de interpretación de la realidad visible e invisible, utilizando técnicas cuasi mecánicas, un sistema de signos simbólicos y paneles combinatorios. Se le considera uno de los pioneros en usar el mallorquín escrito​ y uno de los primeros en usar una lengua neolatina para expresar conocimientos filosóficos, científicos y técnicos, además de textos novelísticos. Se le atribuye la invención de la rosa de los vientos y del nocturlabio.

Ramon Llull, ein gebürtiger Mallorquiner, lebte von 1232 bis 1316 und war ein ungemein produktiver und vielseitiger Autor, der seinen Gedanken auf Latein, Katalanisch und Arabisch Ausdruck verlieh. Das Herzstück von Llulls Werk bildet etwas, das er als Ars (Kunst) bezeichnete: eine allgemeine Methode zur Interpretation der sichtbaren wie der unsichtbaren Wirklichkeit, die sich quasi-mechanischer Techniken, eines symbolischen Zeichensystems und kombinatorischer Tafeln bediente. Er gilt als einer der Pioniere im Umgang mit dem geschriebenen Mallorquinischen und als einer der ersten, der eine neulateinische Sprache benutzte, um philosophisches, wissenschaftliches und technisches Wissen sowie romanische Texte auszudrücken. Ihm wird die Erfindung der Windrose und des Nocturlabiums zugeschrieben.

Ramon Llull, born in Mallorca, lived from 1232 to 1316 and was an extremely productive and versatile author who expressed his thoughts in Latin, Catalan and Arabic. The core of Llull's work is what he called Ars (Art): a general method of interpreting both visible and invisible reality, using quasi-mechanical techniques, a symbolic sign system and combinatorial panels. He is considered to be one of the pioneers in the use of written Mallorcan and one of the first to use a neo-Latin language to express philosophical, scientific and technical knowledge as well as Romanic texts. He is said to have invented the compass rose and the nocturlabium.
