The City of Lilburn is hoping to take you on an adventure to EXPLORE varied locations of interest around the Lilburn, Georgia.This adventure will bring you to the Matthews Family Cemetery that is located on Shady Drive .
The cache is located on the edge of the cemetery and is log only. Please remember to bring your own pen and to return the container in the same place you find it.
This small cemetery is the resting place for members of Reverend Thomas Matthews and family on land he used to own. Pilgrimage Presbyterian Church was located nearby. These days, you can see a soccer field. It is fascinating to see all the growth around this cemetery.

"The Rev. Thomas Mathews died at his home in Gwinnett county, on the night of the 8th of May, inst., after an illness of one week. He was attacked with paralysis while on a visit to his brother-in-law, Mr. J. W. Nash, on Wednesday, the week before, from which he never even partially recovered, and on the day designated, was gathered to his fathers, in a green old age, having faithfully served his generation according to the will of God and fell on sleep!"
